SAT Summer Bootcamp
This is the most comprehensive SAT training package in our system. I personally spend 20 full days with students, from 9am-5pm. This level of personal attention is unheard of in the SAT market. Over four weeks, students will not only be guided through all aspects of the SAT that they will face on test day, but will also be trained and drilled in all the techniques required to ace the exam.
Skills covered and drilled include (but are not limited to) the following:
1) Reading: How to strategically approach the passage, how to efficiently answer all question types, coupled with tons of focused practice. The SAT reading section is notoriously difficult, even for native speakers. The training in this course will give students the tools to confidently attack anything the College Board can throw at them in the reading section. Naturally, it would be beneficial for students to continue their reading practice after completion of the course.
2) Writing: All the grammar concepts which are tested will be drilled until they become second nature. This will be accomplished through training sessions followed by both short and long tests. With the requisite practice, students should expect to see marked improvement in their grammar score by the end of the month.
3) Math: While the calculation component of the SAT Math is extremely simple, the College Board is expert at causing students to make mistakes. To achieve a high score, students will require a high degree of familiarity and automaticity with the tested concepts. Every possible question type and formula will be covered, with attention paid to weaker areas. Students should set themselves the goal of achieving a perfect (or near-perfect score) on the math section, so they should make sure to continue drilling right up to test day.
4) Essay: The SAT essay is increasingly being viewed as optional at top tier universities such as Harvard. Still, unless you are 100% certain that every single college that you will apply to does not require the essay, it would be intelligent to become proficient in this area. A high-scoring template will be provided, as will writing practice and correction. Students should expect to be challenged with the essay. Even for students who do not require the essay, this training will improve their ability to analyze reading passages, which is beneficial for the SAT Reading section.
5) Mock tests: 5 complete mock tests are provided with in-depth explanations of difficult areas. Grading of essays is included in the mock tests.
